Support knowledge bases: prepare a broker-ready brief

Separate approved help articles from customer tickets, document revisions and product coverage, and prepare a bounded knowledge-base brief.

Use this guide to describe a bounded collection and decide what evidence an intermediary needs next. It does not establish buyer acceptance, a valuation, or permission to license the material.

Draw a boundary around published knowledge

Inventory public help articles, internal procedures, and customer conversations separately. Use the article collection as a possible starting scope instead of exporting a support system. Keep tickets, account details, credentials, and customer identifiers outside the exploratory packet.

Resolve article versions and applicability

Track a stable article ID, revision date, product version, language, and current or deprecated status. Explain whether redirects and merged articles preserve lineage. Repeated revisions may help a historical task or confuse a current-answer task; ask the buyer which it intends to evaluate.

Record the source of reusable passages

Identify internally written instructions, supplier extracts, and passages copied from individual support interactions. Route uncertain material for review before inclusion. Do not describe a whole knowledge base as cleared simply because employees can access it.

Offer coverage before text

Share a topic-by-product coverage summary and a schema with fictional examples. Ask which product versions and languages matter and how freshness will be evaluated. Define who could provide updates if a later arrangement requires them; the initial inquiry commits you to no refresh schedule.
